Traditional, drain-down cleaning methods require filters to be taken off-line and drained.
Slow sand filters are effective because a purifying biological matrix forms on the very top layer of sand, known as the Schmutzdecke. However, it eventually becomes so clogged it seals off the flow of water, so it has to be removed.
The remote-controlled YT-800 is a powerful cleaning machine that removes the Schmutzdecke from the filter while the asset remains on-line and in production. Electrically controlled, its powerful, movable pump removes the sediment to environmentally safe discharge points.
Traditional drain-down cleaning allows the filter to dry out and so destroys the biological processes throughout the filter – the YT-800 does NOT. That means the recovery time is not required. |
